Ten people died in a road accident in Croatia

At least ten people were killed and dozens injured, Sunday, when a Kosovo-registered bus veered off the road in eastern Croatia, police said.

A police official told reporters that the passengers were on a regular flight linking the German city of Frankfurt and Pristina, the capital of Kosovo.

Kosovo's ambassador to Zagreb, Gezim Kasapoli, noted that all the travelers are from Kosovo and work in Germany, and were on their way back home for vacation.

There were 69 people on the bus, including two drivers, according to officials.

A source in the prosecution told reporters: "One of them died in the accident, while the other was arrested on suspicion of causing the bus to veer off the road."

Prosecutor Slavko Pranjic added, "The suspect said he had fallen asleep for a while."

Officials said that among the passengers were 15 young men under the age of 18, including a girl who was seriously injured.

A total of 45 people, eight of whom were seriously injured, were taken to hospital in Slavonski Brod, a Croatian town close to the scene of the accident.
