Zaqout: Gaza Has Become a Place of Death and Famine Has Reached 100%

Dr. Bassam Zaqout, Director of Medical Relief in southern Gaza, stated that the humanitarian and health situation in the Gaza Strip has reached catastrophic levels, affirming that Gaza "has become a place of death" amid ongoing Israeli escalation and the targeting of healthcare facilities.

In an interview with "Voice of Palestine" radio on Sunday, Zaqout said the continuous aggression has led to widespread destruction of hospitals and health infrastructure, which he described as part of an ethnic cleansing policy pursued by the Israeli occupation against the residents of the Strip. He added that famine has reached 100%, with complete absence of food security.

He stressed that there is no safe place in Gaza due to the ongoing bombardment and worsening conditions inside hospitals, which are operating with minimal resources and facing a severe shortage of medical supplies, fuel, and essential equipment, including oxygen generation stations.

Zaqout also noted that around 10,000 cancer patients are deprived of treatment, and a large number of kidney failure patients have died, while the remaining ones receive only minimal care that barely keeps them alive, putting their lives at serious risk.
