Dr. Hamdi Al-Najjar Martyred After Succumbing to His Injuries, Joining His Nine Children in an Israeli Airstrike
Dr. Hamdi Al-Najjar was martyred on Saturday evening, succumbing to severe injuries sustained from an Israeli airstrike that targeted his home in Khan Younis, southern Gaza. He joins his nine children, who were martyred in the same attack.
The airstrike took place on Friday, May 23, when Dr. Hamdi returned home after dropping off his wife, Dr. Alaa Al-Najjar, at Nasser Hospital. Within minutes of his return, Israeli warplanes targeted the family home, killing nine of their children, aged between six months and 12 years. The couple’s tenth child, Adam, survived the attack but sustained serious injuries. Dr. Hamdi was rushed to the intensive care unit in critical condition.
Despite intensive medical efforts, including two surgeries to stop internal bleeding in his abdomen and chest, doctors were unable to save Dr. Hamdi’s life, and he was martyred, joining his nine children who had been killed in the same strike.
