A Boeing 737 cargo plane makes a damaging landing in the sea off Honolulu

A Boeing 737 cargo plane carrying two crew members was forced to make an emergency landing at sea off Honolulu early Friday, after the pilots reported engine problems, the administration announced. Federal Aviation.

"Trancer Flight 810 was attempting to return to Honolulu when the plane was forced to land in the water around 2:30 local time," a spokeswoman said in a statement.

The statement added, "According to preliminary information, the US Coast Guard rescued the two-person crew. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the incident.”

A Coast Guard helicopter rescued one pilot, while a Fire Service helicopter rescued the other pilot, Coast Guard spokesman Matthew West told CNN.

A Coast Guard vessel was sent to the scene, and the two pilots were taken to a hospital in Honolulu for treatment, according to West, who said he had no further information about their condition.
