Opens an embassy in Jerusalem.. Honduran president meets Rivlin and Bennett, and the latter threatens Gaza

Israeli President Reuven Rivlin and Prime Minister Naftali Bennett met today, Thursday, with Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez, who arrived in Tel Aviv last night, to open an embassy for his country in Jerusalem.

Rivlin thanked the Honduran president for his decision to open an embassy in Jerusalem.

“I am excited to see more and more countries follow in your footsteps and recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel,” Rivlin said.

For his part, Hernandez said that he returned to Israel again on a mission to open the embassy, and to strengthen and deepen joint relations.

The Honduran president also met with Naftali Bennett, who held a joint conference and used it to threaten Gaza.

Bennett described Hernandez as a true friend of Israel, noting joint cooperation on many political, security, commercial and other issues.

Bennett indicated that an agreement was signed to expand cooperation in the fields of the Internet, technology and others.

Bennett praised Honduras’s support for Israel during its operation in Gaza, accusing Hamas of firing thousands of rockets at what he described as “Israeli civilians,” and using Gazans as human shields, describing this as a “double war crime.”

"Unfortunately, Hamas constantly chooses to invest in terrorism, rather than investing in education, infrastructure, and economic development," he said.

He stressed that Israel operates according to a simple rule, that every reaction will be met with a harsher reaction.
