Knesset elects Herzog as President of Israel

The head of the Jewish Agency, Yitzhak Herzog, won, today, Wednesday, the position of Israeli President, replacing Reuven Rivlin, after elections that took place in the Knesset this morning.

87 Knesset members voted for Herzog, while Mirian Peretz received 36 votes.

Herzog will assume his new position a month from today.
