"The current calm in the West Bank and Gaza Strip is misleading and deceptive, especially in the West Bank, which is relatively calm, but the situation has explode at any moment," said NADAF Argaman, head of Israel's General Security Service (Shabak), on Tuesday.
In an interview with the Knesset Security and foreign Committee to review the security situation, Argmann claimed that 480 attacks were foiled in the West Bank last year, and 500 of those described as "individual terrorists" were arrested.
Arhman, Hamas, accused the group of trying vigorously to carry out attacks from the West Bank in order to destabilize the situation, stating that it is very complicated by the current situation.
"Above the surface we can see relative calm, but beneath the surface there are attempts to carry out attacks by Hamas under the direction of its leaders in Gaza, Lebanon and Turkey," he said.
He noted that 219 Hamas cells were foiled in the West Bank as part of the operations carried out by Shabak with the help of the army to thwart the attacks.
He pointed out that the speranism attacks were foiled online and another in an attempt to spy on soldiers.
He said the situation in the Gaza Strip put Israel in doubt about him either to battle or to stabilize the humanitarian situation through calm.
