Hyundai and Kia rank globally in electric vehicle sales

A news report stated that Hyundai Motor Company and its subsidiary Kia Motors witnessed a significant increase in their global ranking in terms of electric vehicle sales during the first five months of 2020.

South Korea's Yonhap News Agency said Saturday that, according to data, Hyundai Motor ranked sixth in terms of electric vehicle sales in the period from January to the end of last May, compared to ninth place in the same period last year. . The "Kia Motors" ranking jumped to seventh place, compared to fourteenth place.

Hyundai sold 500.26 electric cars, including hybrid models, during the five months, down 2 percent from 27,000 units a year earlier. Sales of "Kia" increased by 16 percent to 600.24 units, compared to 300.21 units in the same period last year.

According to Yonhap, given that global automakers sold 100,710 units in the five-month period, down 20 percent from 400,891 units a year ago, Hyundai and Kia seemed to have performed better than many other competitors, such as Audi Volvo, and Nissan Motors.
