The 19th anniversary of the martyrdom of mohammed al-Durra in Gaza

The 19th anniversary of the death of Mohammed al-Durra in the embrace of his father in the Gaza Strip on Monday marks the 19th anniversary of the start of the second intifada in 2000.

The spark erupted on 28 September 2000, after the then Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque amid tight protection from the occupying forces and army. The five-year uprising has killed 4,412 people, in addition to 48,322 wounded.

Mohammed Al-Durra was born on November 22, 1988 in al-Bureij refugee camp in Gaza. The world was shaken for his martyrdom after French journalist Charles Enderlin published a video documenting the moment of his death and the injury of his father with several bullets.
