Hong Kong: Protesters set fire to a subway station

Demonstrators in Hong Kong set up barricades, set fires and disrupted traffic in the city's main business district on Sunday as protests erupted three months ago.

The protesters set fire to the entrance of a major subway station and clashed with riot police, the Bloomberg news agency reported.

The agency said that the activist Joshua Wong was arrested today at the airport on charges of violating the conditions of his bail.

Wong said in a statement through his lawyer that he had been detained and was expected to be released after a hearing on Monday.

At least 19 people were injured on Saturday, two of them seriously, in clashes between police and protesters outside Hong Kong police station and other areas.

Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam officially withdrew last week a controversial bill that was the main reason for the outbreak of demonstrations, which have developed into violence.
