A member of the Faculty of Engineering at An-Najah National University Amjad Al-Qani received the Silver Medal and the Special GIF 2019 Award during his representation at the Supreme Council for Innovation and Excellence at the Global Invention Forum (GIF) held in Limassol. In Cyprus.
Al-Qani presented his project entitled "Development of Nanomaterials Based on Oxide Metal for Wastewater Treatment", which works to remove organic pollutants and heavy metals, such as heavy metals and textile industries. Pharmaceutical industry wastes are critical to the environment and many organisms, as some of these pollutants are non-biodegradable, and therefore will remain present for a long time in the environment; which may cause a real challenge and future hindrance to conventional wastewater treatment.
The research team included students from An-Najah University: Saqr Abu Hatab, Hana Hamdan, Wassal Ziad, Asala Hanoun and Du'aa Ghanem.
Many IP holders, IP labels, industrial companies, organizations, creative teams, individual inventors, members of the International Federation of Inventors Associations (IFIA) and the International Innovation Club "Archimedes" participated in the Global Forum from 10 different countries: Switzerland, Taiwan, China, Croatia , Russia, Poland, Serbia, Egypt, Cyprus and Palestine.
