New Israeli plan to displace Negev residents

JERUSALEM _ Palestine News Network

The Hebrew newspaper Yisrael Hume unveiled an Israeli plan aimed at displacing Bedouin living in the Negev from their land, within what is known as the region's development plans.

According to the paper, the plan, overseen by Minister Uri Ariel, who is in charge of the Negev Bedouin, aims to displace 36,000 bedouin living in villages not recognized by the Israeli authorities.

The plan, according to the Hebrew newspaper, relies on the evacuation and displacement of these families to develop infrastructure and set up a series of public projects, with residents being evacuated to other areas.

The project is expected to continue for several years and the displacement process will take place until 2021.
