France imposes a large fine on Google

The National Commission on Informatics and Freedoms in France (CNIL) imposed a fine of 50 million euros on Google, accusing it of violating European data protection rules.

"Its decision came after experts found that Google was guilty of the two human rights cases filed against it by none of Your Business and La Quadrature du Net and that it did not give users enough information about using their personal data," the committee said.

"Google has not done enough to tell users how they have obtained the data they used to determine the content of the ads to them, where and how they will be used," the committee said.

For its part, Google said that it will study the decision of the Commission, and will determine the steps related to it, and measures to be taken to address the problem.
