South Korean actor Oh Young-soo won the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in "The Squid's Game", becoming the first South Korean actor to win an acting award at an American awards ceremony.
South Korea's Yonhap News Agency reported that 77-year-old Young-soo won the award for best performance by an actor in a supporting role in TV for his role in the series, at the ceremony held by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
Young-soo played the role of the largest participant in the game of squid, who appears to be secretly organizing this deadly game, in which debtors try to win a prize money estimated at 45.6 billion won (37.9 million dollars).
Young Soo thanked the fans around the world who loved the South Korean series, which became Netflix's most successful original content.
"After learning about this news, I said to myself, 'You are a good person for the first time in my life,'" he said, adding, "I hope everyone lives a happy life."
