The United States of America, with the support and funding of the government of the United Arab Emirates.

The initiative aims to provide 125 UNRWA schools in the Gaza Strip with desalination units and solar energy systems as a renewable electricity source that works to provide clean drinking water and enhance personal hygiene behaviors, according to a statement by the American organization.

The RVF and UNRWA are seeking to finalize the agreement between them in this regard soon. According to the same statement.

“This initiative represents a critical step towards alleviating the impact of the water crisis in Gaza, as groundwater from wells has become unfit for human consumption, and the poorest families in Gaza have become dependent on the use of bottled water, and water transported by trucks, for clean drinking water,” the Foundation said. High cost, and it entails significant health risks, and in order to solve this problem, RVF devotes its efforts to providing clean and safe drinking water for personal hygiene reasons, which are an urgent necessity to combat the Corona pandemic.”

She indicated that she will implement this project in coordination with UNRWA, as the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East - and the relevant local water institutions, noting her keenness to make the installation and maintenance of modern and imported desalination units a local operation in Gaza in order to support capacity and local returns.

The RVF Foundation added in its statement, “The issue of access to clean drinking water is a priority for public health standards in the world, and for the Gaza Strip, which is inhabited by more than two million people, this is an urgent necessity, especially in children’s schools, and while some schools have water purification systems However, the majority of schools in the Gaza Strip lack clean drinking water and adequate sanitary facilities for hand washing.”

And she continued, “Compared to the requirements of inaugurating a huge desalination plant, it is possible to establish small-sized units to desalinate drinking water very quickly, which contributes to providing immediate relief to the water crisis in Gaza. Therefore, this project will provide each of the targeted UNRWA schools with a special desalination unit appropriate to its needs, which may supply With a source of solar energy to avoid dependence on the local electricity network, which has limited capabilities.

She pointed out that she will sponsor training that will contribute to both teachers and students in each school, during school hours or at home, to formulate and develop good health habits that will help them prevent and prevent the transmission of diseases, including the Corona pandemic.

She pointed out that the UAE's support for the project to provide clean drinking water to the children of Gaza comes after providing two basic vaccines for children in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and was implemented by the RVF Foundation, in partnership with the Palestinian Ministry of Health previously.
