Today, Saturday, the occupation municipality in Jerusalem forced a Jerusalemite to demolish his house in the Ashqariya neighborhood in the town of Beit Hanina, north of occupied Jerusalem.
The owner of the house, Moaz al-Rajabi, told “Wafa”: “The occupation authorities handed him a self-demolition order about two weeks ago, and if he refuses to demolish it, he will have to pay a fine of up to 65,000 shekels.”
He added that he had to demolish his 55-square-meter house, housing 7 people, including five children, to avoid the fine.
Jerusalemites live between the hammer of self-demolition, which is considered a double punishment, and the heavy fines imposed by the occupation municipality on those who refuse to demolish their homes.
