Britain´s Johanna Konta retires from tennis at the age of 30

British tennis star Johanna Konta announced today, Wednesday, her retirement, after suffering from knee problems for the past two years and dropping to 113th place in the world rankings.

Konta, 30, revealed her decision in an advertisement she made on social media.

Konta's announcement came under the heading of gratitude. "This is probably the word I've used the most in my career, and one that I feel is best explained in the end," she said.

She added, "My sports career has reached the finish line, and I am very grateful for this journey that I have gone through. All indications are that I will not continue in the professional world."

She noted, "But my luck was embodied in the people who entered my life and affected my existence in ways that went beyond tennis."
She continued, "I feel a tremendous amount of gratitude for these people, you realize your capabilities... Through my resilience and the guidance of others, I was able to live my dreams." I achieved what I wanted and said when I was a child.”

She concluded: “I am incredibly fortunate. How grateful I am.”
