European Union: Palestinian home demolitions and displacement undermine peace prospects

 The European Union said that "the demolitions of Palestinian homes and facilities carried out by the Israeli authorities are illegal under international law and seriously undermine the prospects for peace."

In a tweet published by its office in Jerusalem on Twitter, the European Union renewed its call today, Friday, to stop demolitions and any other illegal practices that forcibly force Palestinians to leave their homes.

He pointed out that “on November 23, 22 Palestinians, including 15 children, lost their homes, after the Israeli authorities demolished in one day homes, animal pens, buildings under construction and a road, and confiscated several tents and private properties in the areas of Jerusalem, Hebron, Ramallah and Nablus.” She pointed out that the demolition or seizure of homes and facilities increased by 21% in the first nine months of this year 2021 compared to the same period last year 2020, which led to an increase of 28% in the number of Palestinians who were forcibly displaced from their places of residence.

Last Tuesday, the Israeli occupation authorities demolished 3 residential buildings in the “Wadi al-Hummus” area in the town of Tyre Baher, southeast of Jerusalem, two of them are located inside the separation wall. One person, while the other building is located outside the wall, consisting of 4 floors, and containing 8 apartments, under the pretext of being near the wall.

In the Hebron governorate, the occupation forces demolished a 200-square-meter house in Khirbet Ma’in, and notified the demolition of two other houses in Khirbet Al-Fakhit and Al-Marqaz, and destroyed 12 graves in Khirbet Al-Dirat, east of Yatta, south of Hebron.

In the Nablus governorate, the occupation forces bulldozed and destroyed the paved road that leads to Khallet al-Dalia, which belongs to the lands of Asira al-Shamaliah, north of Nablus.

In the Ramallah and Al-Bireh governorate, the occupation forces bulldozed large areas of land, uprooted dozens of olive trees, and destroyed hundreds of meters of stone chains in the village of Al-Mughayer, east of Ramallah.
