Report: The occupation is trying to impose facts that prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state

The National Office for Defending Land and Resisting Settlements said that the occupation authorities are continuing their settlement plans, especially in the vicinity of East Jerusalem, to impose new facts on the ground that make it impossible to establish a Palestinian state.
In its weekly report on settlements, the office added that the occupation government is moving many settlement projects, especially in occupied Jerusalem, in preparation to start building thousands of new settlement units, when local and international conditions allow it to do so.
In this context, the Local Planning and Construction Committee of the occupation municipality approved the confiscation of lands for public buildings and the construction of roads in order to implement construction works at the site of a new settlement called “Givat Hamatos” in the south of occupied Jerusalem, where the occupation authorities plan to build ten compounds and 38 public settlement units. And commercial establishments, in this area, which includes temporary homes “caravans” inhabited by Ethiopian Jewish immigrants, and the establishment of such a settlement would completely isolate Beit Safafa from its Palestinian surroundings.
The occupation plans to build the new settlement on the land of Khirbet Tabalia in Beit Safafa, in addition to the well-known “E1” area, in which the establishment of a settlement would also cut the geographical connection between the north and south of the West Bank. The occupation also plans to expand the “Psgat Ze’ev” settlement located east of the towns of Shuafat and Beit Hanina in the north of occupied Jerusalem, and the “Aterot” area in north Jerusalem. It is expected that next December, a plan to establish a new settlement neighborhood in the “Atarot” area will be presented for discussion and objections. The plan that will be built in the area of Jerusalem Airport “Atarot” includes 9,000 settlement housing units, and the talk here is about a very strategic and sensitive area, as the “Atarot” industrial zone and the abandoned airport adjacent to it are located between the neighborhoods of Beit Hanina and Kafr Aqab.
In the context of settlement projects, it is expected that the “Karta” group for real estate projects will soon start building 104 settlement units in “Gilo” settlement in occupied Jerusalem. The company will start its investments in the settlement through the construction of these housing units, which include a commercial project in the area, knowing that the cost will reach hundreds of millions of shekels.
It is expected that these new settlement units will overlook the light rail axis, which will make it an important and strategic project for the settlers, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of “Carta” Amichai Neiman was quoted as saying: “This is a very popular residential site, on the Blue Line of the light rail, in one From the highest points in the city with a breathtaking view of Jerusalem, which makes it one of the most strategic projects.” As for the details of the settlement plan, it is expected that the Israeli company will start working on the scheme, after it has completed drawing up the engineering plans and maps, and preparing the infrastructure for the establishment of these settlement units. The cost of the project will be about 6 million shekels, and it includes commercial centers, housing units, and services for the benefit of settlers.
Settlement activities in the various lands of the West Bank
The activities of the occupation authorities continue in various governorates in the West Bank. The occupation bulldozers carried out extensive razing operations in the Ush Ghurab site, located within the Beit Sahour municipality, east of Bethlehem, in preparation for the construction of a settlement road in the place that would reach the bypass road built on the lands of villages east of Bethlehem. The length of the street is about 670 meters, with a width of two meters, in the city’s lands for security reasons, as the occupation claims. Years to return to the municipality of Beit Sahour, which implemented several vital projects. In the Nablus governorate, the Israeli government headed by Naftali Bennett is heading to legitimize the outpost of “Avitar” on the top of Mount Sabih in the town of Beita, after the results of the survey conducted by the occupation army teams showed that 60 dunums of land in the area are classified as “state lands”, which means The possibility of building the settlement on top of it. The relevant Israeli government ministries will hold consultations next week on the results of the survey and the possibility of establishing and legalizing the outpost that was established during the term of former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The Israeli government, headed by Bennett, had reached a settlement with the leaders of the settlements council in the occupied West Bank, stipulating the temporary evacuation of the “Avitar” outpost, which is built on Jabal Sabih near Nablus. Last July, settler gangs evacuated the “Avitar” outpost, while maintaining the installations built by settlers on the mountain without demolishing, and establishing a military base next to it.
In the Salfit Governorate, the occupation authorities were notified of the seizure of tens of dunums of the lands of Yasuf village, east of the city of Salfit, for the benefit of the “Taffouh” settlement, which is built on the village lands. The head of the Yasuf Village Council, Abdullah Obayya, said that the occupation authorities notified a number of villagers of the seizure of four basins, or approximately 40 dunums, of land with an area of 160 dunums, in favor of expanding the settlement of “Taffouh,” which means that the occupation has ambitions to seize All the area mentioned, especially since the occupation has been planning since 2016 to expand the settlement by changing the use status from an agricultural area to settlement residential communities that include public institutions and departments as stated in the notification, and annexing it to the settlement in the northwestern area of the village.
Popular campaigns to pick olives
On the other hand, Palestinian activists, official and civil bodies and institutions, launched several popular campaigns to harvest olives to secure protection and support for Palestinian farmers in the olive groves, which are located in contact with settlements and outposts, known as incubators for Jewish terrorist organizations. The mission of these campaigns remains to prevent and support the citizens and protect them from the settlers’ attacks on the Palestinian olive pickers, the destruction of trees and the theft of crops. Among these campaigns is a campaign organized by local bodies in cooperation with the Committee to Resist the Wall and Settlement in the name of the popular “Fazaa,” which was launched from the town of Beita, south of Nablus, which has witnessed anti-settlement activities in Jabal Sabih for months, to extend to other areas.
The National Office for Land Defense and Settlement Resistance launched the “Protectors of the Land” campaign from the lands of the villages of Al-Mughir and Ein Qinya in Ramallah governorate, Al-Jarushiya and Shweikeh in the Tulkarm governorate, and Beita and Beit Dajan in the Nablus governorate to include all governorates in the West Bank. The agricultural relief also launched its annual voluntary campaign “We are with you” to help farmers harvest olives in areas threatened by settlements and the wall of annexation and expansion in the West Bank, from Qalandia to Turmusaya, Iskaka, Yasuf, Wadi Fokin, Jayyous, Deir al-Ghosun and Faqqu’a.
In this context, human rights data revealed a sharp increase in the number of crimes committed by settlers against Palestinian citizens in the occupied West Bank, especially in the Jordan Valley, during the current year, where the attacks recorded a 40% increase in September.
The data show that “Yitzhar” settlement, south of Nablus, is among the settlements with the highest number of crimes against a national background recorded, with 84 crimes, followed by a settlement outpost in Hebron, where settlers committed 83 attacks in the same year, then “Emek Shilo” settlements. And “Rehalim” and “Bat Ayin”, each of which committed approximately 25 terrorist attacks against Palestinian citizens in the year 2020.
