The head of the Federation of Metallurgical and Engineering Industries, Muhammad Al-Mansi, announced that 3,000 workers were laid off as a result of the recent Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and the bombing of economic facilities and their suspension, in addition to the closure of the Kerem Shalom crossing, which basically does not meet the needs of Gaza Strip and its factories.

Al-Mansi added, “We have not received any aid from any party, and our workers have not received any assistance, which increases their suffering, and since 2014, we have received only 10% of the damage rate in our factories for reconstruction.” He pointed out that “more than 20 factories were completely destroyed, and the industrial areas are protected areas according to international law, and protection must be provided for them. The occupation targeted factories without warning and the equipment was not extracted.” .
Al-Mansi pointed out that the occupation wants to turn us into a consuming people, and this is unacceptable, and we will work to manufacture what we need, and we call on donor countries to support the industrial sector, and the authority and mediators must assume their responsibilities in the reconstruction of economic facilities, and we demand the occupation to open the Kerem Shalom crossing and introduce raw materials to our factories.
