Official data: 3 Palestinian women were killed and 128 arrested during 2020

Official Palestinian data stated that 3 Palestinian women were killed by the bullets of the occupation during the year 2020, while 128 Palestinian women were arrested in each of the West Bank, Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip, indicating that there are 40 Palestinian women languishing in the occupation prisons.

According to the data released today, Sunday, by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, on the conditions of Palestinian women, on the eve of International Women's Day, which falls on Monday, the participation of women in decision-making positions is still limited compared to men, as the data showed that 5% of the members The Central Council, 11% of the members of the National Council, 13% of the members of the Palestinian Council of Ministers are women, and 11% of the female ambassadors are in the diplomatic corps, and there is one woman who occupies the position of governor out of 16 governors. A municipality in the municipalities classified (A) and (B), as for the municipalities classified (C), there are 3 female mayors compared to 97 for men.

According to the General Personnel Bureau data until February 2021, the contribution of women in the civil sector reached 45% of the total number of employees, and the gap becomes evident when talking about those holding the rank of director general or higher, reaching 14% for women compared to 86% for men.

The percentage of female students enrolled in Palestinian higher education institutions was 61% of the total number of students enrolled in higher education institutions for the 2019/2020 academic year.
