Israel tightens its lockdown measures with the arrival of Moderna vaccine

Israel will impose a strict health closure, starting from midnight on Thursday, Friday. At the end of a session held yesterday, the government decided that the closure will continue for two weeks, to include schools as well, except for private education, while the first vaccine produced by the American company Moderna arrives in Israel.

Among the additional restrictions are the closure of workplaces, except for vital ones, not allowing customers to go to restaurants and cafes to take their orders, and reducing gatherings in closed areas to five people and open areas to a maximum of ten.

Public transport has been cut in half, while the exit distance from homes is kept at a thousand meters, and during the closure period, all football and basketball matches in the upper and excellent classes will stop, but training and matches within international competitions continue as usual, according to what the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation said.

Israeli President Reuven Rivlin called on all Israelis to adhere to the strict measures.

On the other hand, a cargo plane loaded with more than a hundred thousand doses of Moderna vaccine arrived and landed near Tel Aviv on Thursday.

Israel has secured six million doses of the Moderna vaccine against COVID-19.

Israel began the Coronavirus vaccination campaign on December 20, using the Pfizer / Biontech vaccine.

Health Minister Yuli Edelstein said on Thursday that about 1.6 million Israelis had received their first dose.

Corona deaths in Israel amounted to 3529 and 463,448 injuries, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
