China is preparing to launch a missile for the mission of exploring Mars

The State Space Agency said that the fourth Long March-5 missile, which will be used in the launch process for the first Chinese exploration mission to Mars, was transported vertically on Friday to the launch area of Wenchang Space Launch Center in Hainan Province, southern China.

The administration stated that the carrier rocket, coded as Long March 5-Y4, is scheduled to launch in late July or early August.

Aerospace engineers performed general assembly and missile tests after it was transferred to Wenchang Center at the end of May.

It took about two hours to move the large missile vertically to the launch zone in the center on Friday morning, while final tests and tests will be conducted for the missile before launch.

This is the first time that the Long March-5 carrier rocket will be used in practice, and it is the largest launch vehicle in China now, after three test launches. The missile is expected to send the Mars probe to Earth's orbit and Mars, which is also the first mission of its kind carried out by the Chinese carrier rocket.

The first Chinese mission to explore Mars via the Tienon-1 probe aims to complete the rotation around Mars, landing and wandering on it in one mission, and obtain scientific exploration data on Mars.
