Al-Asir Club: The occupation has arrested more than 750 Jerusalemites since the beginning of the year

The Palestinian Prisoner Club said today, Sunday, that the Israeli occupation forces have arrested more than 750 citizens of Jerusalem since the beginning of the year 2020, targeting all groups, including women, children, leaders and activists.

This morning, the occupation forces launched a campaign of arrests and summonses inside the Al-Aqsa Mosque, targeting at least 11 citizens, including journalist Sundus Aweis, and Mrs. Raeda Saida, in addition to the director of the Al-Asir Club in Jerusalem, Nasser Qaws, and the citizens Obadah Najib, Ihab Abu Sneineh, and Louay Jaber. At dawn, I arrested Abd al-A’our from his home, where the majority of the occupation authorities issued decisions to release them, on condition that they be kept away from Al-Aqsa Mosque for a week, provided that they are given a new decision after the end of the period.

The campaign of arrests and summonses comes after incursions carried out by dozens of settlers, in conjunction with the announcement of the reopening of the Al-Aqsa Mosque at dawn, two and a half months after it was closed due to the (Corona) epidemic, knowing that the occupation has not stopped carrying out arrests even with the spread of the epidemic, since the month of March Last March, more than 300 Jerusalemites were arrested.

The Prisoner Club explained that the systematic detention policy implemented by the occupation authorities with high intensity in Jerusalem, through which it aims to undermine any action that would contribute to support the resilience of the Jerusalemite citizen, and protect the Al-Aqsa Mosque, bearing in mind that some citizens have been arrested dozens of times, in addition to repeated investigations with them Via call campaigns.

The decisions of the occupation issued against the Jerusalemite detainees focus on issuing deportation orders from the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and from Jerusalem, in addition to the decisions of house arrest, which affected boys and children in particular.

The occupation, as part of its systematic policies against Jerusalemites, intentionally re-arrests the Jerusalemite prisoners the moment of their liberation, in order to trick them and steal the joy of their families and friends at the moment of their liberation, accompanied by preventing them from any manifestations to celebrate their freedom, the most recent of which happened with the freed prisoner Issa Al Abbasi.
