Gaza: No new injuries to Corona and the continued closure of mosques

The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip confirmed today, Thursday, that no new cases of Corona virus were recorded in the Strip.

Ashraf Al-Qudra, spokesman for the Ministry of Health in the sector, said during the daily briefing that 429 laboratory samples were examined since the beginning of this week, all of which were negative, without recording any new infection.

He pointed out that since last March 20 cases had been registered in the Strip, 14 of which had recovered, and 6 cases were still under treatment at the Isolation Hospital at the Rafah Crossing.

Al-Qudra pointed out that the Ministry is still following 1031 hosts in the quarantine centers, all of whom are in good condition, and is being cared for by 215 cardinals, medical and police personnel, and various services.

He stated that the ministry has completed its procedures at the Rafah crossing in terms of examining, sorting and educating the returnees from Egypt through the Rafah crossing, noting that 91 of the returnees, who are from sick cases, have been transferred to several hospitals for health follow-up.

He stressed the ability for citizens to be committed to implementing precautionary measures and promoting societal behavior, especially in light of the spread of the epidemic in neighboring regions.

He called on the international community to intervene to lift the Israeli siege on the sector, noting that the ministry suffers from a severe shortage of supplies, medical consumables, medicines, and others.

For his part, Salama Maarouf, head of the government media office in Gaza, confirmed that the file of opening mosques is still under study and evaluation, medically and legally, and that the matter is linked to the commitment of citizens to the required precautionary safety measures.

Regarding the opening of the Rafah crossing, Maarouf pointed out that during the past two days, 620 citizens were received and a similar number is expected to arrive today until the early hours of Friday morning.

He pointed out that this is the third regiment that reaches the Strip after the exceptional opening of the Rafah crossing since the beginning of the crisis.

He stated that the consumer protection crews carried out 260 inspection visits and visits to shops and markets to ensure that prices were not tampered with or commercial fraud, and records of seizure and destruction were written.
