More than 200 Rohingya migrants were transported to Malaysia on a fishing boat

Malaysia on Sunday detained 202 suspected Rohingya Muslims who illegally reached it on a fishing boat, according to what the authorities announced, which increased fears that human smugglers will continue their work, Despite the outbreak of the new Corona virus.

The Deputy Director of the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency Zolinda Ramley told France Press that a large fishing boat transported the migrants believed to be from Rohingya to the tourist island of Langwaki in the north of the country.

Thousands of Rohingya have attempted to reach Malaysia due to a lack of employment and education opportunities in Burma or in the migrant camps in neighboring Bangladesh.

Zolinda confirmed that the maritime authorities have detained the migrants for investigation and will hand them over to the immigration authorities.

"The authorities are investigating complaints from migrants that three individuals - the captain and two of its crew - are operators of a human trafficking network," it said in a statement.

The three apparently fled at sea after they brought the boat to Malaysian waters.
