A Russian plane loaded with anti-corona virus equipment lands in New York

On Wednesday, a plane loaded with medical equipment landed by Russia sent to the United States to help it cope with the Covid-19 epidemic, according to what the Russian mission to the United Nations announced.

The expedition posted, on its Twitter account, live scenes of the Antonov-124 cargo plane belonging to the Russian Air Force as they were empty of the boxes in which they were stacked.

The Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement on Wednesday morning that the plane, loaded with "masks and medical equipment," took off for the United States.

"We have to work together to fight Covid-19, so the United States agreed to buy from Russia the protective equipment we desperately need," said US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that this issue was the subject of discussion in the telephone conversation that took place between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Donald Trump.

"Today when the situation reaches the whole world without exception and becomes inclusive, there is no alternative to working in a spirit of partnership and mutual assistance," Peskov told Russian news agencies on Tuesday evening.

US State Department spokeswoman Morgan Ortigos said the equipment was transferred to the US Emergency Management Agency.

Last week, Russia sent a number of aircraft carrying virologists, medical equipment, laboratories and mobile disinfection systems to Italy, where "Covid-19" has killed more than 12,400 people.

As of Wednesday evening, the United States had recorded 4,475 deaths out of more than 213,000 confirmed infections.
