Iran records 141 deaths from "Corona", raising the total to 2898

The death toll from the emerging "Corona" virus in Iran rose today to 2,898, after 141 new cases were registered during the past 24 hours.

"Three thousand and 111 new injuries have been recorded in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number to 44,606," said Ministry of Health public relations official Kyanosh Jehanpur, in a televised statement today.

He described the situation of 3,000 and 703 injured people in hospitals as critical.

He confirmed the recovery of 745 patients from the disease in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of people recovered to 14,656

Last February 19, the virus appeared for the first time in Iran, in the city of Qom, to spread it to the rest of the country.

As of Tuesday noon, the virus had infected nearly 800,000 worldwide, about 39,000 of whom had died, while about 170,000 had recovered.
