The Parisian Louvre Museum is at the top of the list of the most visited museums in the world

The Louvre remains at the top of the list of the most famous and most visited museums in the world, receiving 9.3 million visitors last year, down from the record set in 2018 and amounted to 10.2 million visitors.

In 2019, about 25% of the Louvre visitors were French, while most of the foreign visitors were from the United States, China, and the European Union.

The Louvre hosts a lot of timeless artifacts, but Mona Lisa Leonardo Da Vinci remains the most visited, watched, and photographed work.

The famous museum has eight sections, the most recent of which was opened in 2012, and it is the Islamic Arts Department that includes the largest and most important collection of Islamic artwork in Europe.

Despite the recent strikes in the French capital and its impact on movement in the city, the Louvre continues to upset the equations and demonstrate that Paris has recovered from the effects of declining tourism in the wake of the 2015 terrorist attacks.

In the list of the five most visited museums in the world, the Louvre is ranked first in the world, then comes the Museum of Natural History in Washington DC, followed by the National Museum in Beijing, then the National Aviation and Space Museum in Washington DC, and fifth the British Museum in London.
