Mladenov warns Israel against the demolition of the Red Khan

JERUSALEM _ Palestine News Network

The Middle East envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General Nikolai Mladenov on Sunday warned Israel against destroying the Bedouin village of Khan al-Ahmar, east of Jerusalem.

Miladinov called on the Israeli authorities not to proceed with the demolition and to halt efforts to resettle Palestinian communities in the West Bank.

"Such acts are contrary to international law and could undermine the prospects for a viable and contiguous Palestinian State," Miladinov said.

The Israeli Supreme Court rejected the attack on the residents of al-Khan al-Ahmar on the evacuation and demolition of the village, which was demolished within a week.

Since the decision was issued, dozens of activists and foreign supporters have continued the open sit-in in the village in order to address the decision to demolish it.

President Mahmoud Abbas announced on Saturday that he would put forward all Palestinian issues without exception, especially the red-and-white Khan threatened with demolition and the Al-Aqsa mosque at the United Nations.

"We will go to the United Nations to confront the world with the issues that afflict our people and communicate its message to the world on all issues without exception, especially the recent US position and Israeli positions," Abbas said at the start of a meeting of the PLO's executive committee in Ramallah.

"The Palestinian side lifted the case of the Bedouin village of Khan al-Ahmar, east of Jerusalem, which is threatened by Israel's demolition of the International Criminal Court, and will also bring it to the International Court of Justice," Abbas said.
