30 air strikes by Hifter Army targeted al-Wefaq government forces within 48 hours

Jets of the National Army, led by Field Marshal Khalifa Hifter, carried out 30 air strikes targeting positions of the government of national reconciliation forces in and around Tripoli.

A military source at the General Command of Hifter Forces told Xinhua late Thursday that "30 air strikes targeted locations of Al-Wefaq gunmen south and around the capital Tripoli for the past 48 hours."

As for the nature of the targets, he pointed out that "the air strikes focused on striking precise targets inside the airport Mitiga specifically (military part), in addition to targeting ammunition stores east and west of the capital, and the destruction of dozens of vehicles for militias south of Tripoli," pointing out that the strikes that targeted the base of Misrata (200 km) east of Tripoli, not included in the last statistic.

A Xinhua correspondent monitored explosions in different parts of the country, which resonated clearly in central Tripoli late yesterday night and morning.

Maj. Gen. Ahmed al-Mesmari, spokesman for the National Army, led by Field Marshal Khalifa Hifter, said Sunday that military operations in the capital Tripoli will increase in frequency in the coming days, calling on the residents of the capital to stay away from armed gatherings and weapons storage.

The "National Army" forces have launched an offensive since early April to seize Tripoli, the seat of the internationally recognized government of reconciliation, which announced the launch of Operation Volcano of Wrath to repel the attack.

The fighting since the outbreak killed 1093 people and wounded about 6,000 others in addition to the displacement of nearly 120 thousand people from the clashes, according to the United Nations.
