Israeli Elections: Likud and Blue / White Contest

Polls days ahead of Israel's second general election this year show fierce competition between the two main parties.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's right-wing Likud party and the centrist White Blue Party are expected to exceed 30 seats in the Israeli Knesset, but polls are divided over which party will lead Tuesday's election.

The rule of Israel depends on the formation of a coalition that includes a majority of members of the 120-seat parliament.

However, no poll showed an absolute majority of a tried-and-tested coalition of right-wing and religious parties without the inclusion of ultra-right-wing Avigdor Lieberman.

Lieberman refused to support Netanyahu's government after the April elections, leading to a vote on the dissolution of the Knesset.
