Older people in Germany suffer from a lack of digital skills

The majority of older people in Germany suffer from severe digital skills deficits, according to a recent study.

Only 41 percent of those aged between 60 and 69 feel confident about the Internet, and 36 percent of those aged over 70 years, the survey showed.

With regard to information on digital technology, its applications and risks, half of those aged 60 to 60 rated their experience as good or very good, with a positive assessment of those over the age of 70 accounting for 36%.

The study indicated that there was a clear need to catch up with older people with regard to digital skills.

The study was conducted by the market research company Kantar, commissioned by the German firm Bertelsmann.

The study included about 1,000 people over the age of 14.
