Discover a rare and unique plant in the world in Tunisia

 A research team from the Tunisian National Institute of Agricultural Sciences and specialists in botany has discovered a rare plant found exclusively on the island of Djerba from Medenine in eastern Tunisia, the only one of its kind in the world.

The Tunisian Press Agency (TAP) reported on Wednesday evening a number of botany experts at the National Institute of Agricultural Sciences in Tunisia and Zineb Gharbi Qamar, deputy of the active research society in Tunisia, during a study day organized by the Higher Institute of Technological Studies in Djerba. In Latin, the name "Limonium Fornosum", while not yet known in Arabic or its benefits and areas of use.

The plant is located in a small area on the island of Djerba, which does not exceed 100 square kilometers with less than 20 plants, which is classified as a threatened species that requires protection and rapid intervention to raise the awareness of the need to preserve it and work to create a reserve to ensure its sustainability and other endemic plant species on the island.

The Tunisian island of Djerba is characterized by its rich vegetation and diversity, and is classified as one of the 27 priority areas in Tunisia and among five priority areas for the preservation of its plant wealth, according to Iman Ghalani , A professor at the Tunisian National Institute of Agricultural Sciences.
