Netanyahu agrees with Kokhafi on continuing attacks in Syria

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has agreed with army chief of staff Aviv Kochavi on continuing attacks in Syria, Channel 13 said Sunday evening.

According to the channel, Netanyahu, who is in Chad, telephoned Kokhafi and heard from him a military brief about the situation on the northern front after the escalation that took place this afternoon.

The channel quoted a security official as saying that Netanyahu and Kokhafi had agreed to carry out several military operations on the Syrian front.

Economy Minister Eli Cohen, a member of the cabinet, said Israel would not allow Iran to exist in Syria and that Israel was free to work to prevent the Iranian movement in the country.

"I expect Russia to respect the sovereignty of the State of Israel," he told the channel.
