Facebook imposes sanctions on Russian media

The administration of the famous social network "Facebook" has decided to ban the Russian state media from publishing any ads or generating any income around the world.

According to "Russia Today", the head of the security policy department at "Facebook" Nathaniel Gleicher, the network issued a decision to ban the Russian state media from displaying ads and monetizing on the platform.


Gleicher confirmed that these changes have already taken effect, stressing that they will continue through the weekend.

The Facebook administration had imposed restrictions on the official accounts of four Russian media: Zvezda TV channel, "Novosti" news agency, and the websites Lenta.ru and Gazeta.ru.


Earlier, the Federal Agency for Monitoring Communications, Information Technology and Media "Roskomnadzor" confirmed that it had partially restricted access to Facebook.
