Majdalani: 97% of the groundwater in the Gaza Strip is unfit for human consumption

The Director General of EcoPeace Middle East in Palestine, Nada Majdalani, delivered a speech before the UN Security Council on Wednesday, stressing the importance of regional cooperation to combat climate change in the region and enhance climate security through the 2019 Green-Blue Deal.

Majdalani's invitation came from the Norwegian presidency of the UN Security Council.

This is the second time that EcoPeace Middle East officials address the UN Security Council on the environmental situation in the region in the past three years.

The spokeswoman stressed the need to work on confronting environmental and water issues across borders, stressing that investing in these urgent issues would have a positive impact on regional security.
