Palestinian photographer "Abu Shakra" wins first place in an international competition

Ramallah - “Al-Quds”.com - Palestinian photographer Hisham Abu Shakra won first place in the “Zoom International” competition in the news category, whose annual awards ceremony was held, Wednesday, in the Turkish capital, Ankara.

Abu Shakra, 33, who works as a photojournalist with Anadolu Agency, said that he won the annual competition for the third time, for the video of the Israeli occupation soldiers storming an ambulance at the Tayasir checkpoint in Tubas governorate, and trying to arrest a wounded Palestinian from inside.

He pointed out that 95 journalistic works competed in the 25th Zoom International News Photo Contest of the Turkish News Photographers Association, which has not been held for two years due to the outbreak of the Corona virus.

Abu Shakra commented that winning the award this year also makes him feel the weight of the responsibility placed on his shoulders as a journalist who is trying hard to document the events taking place in the West Bank and convey them to the world, and pushes him to continue to perform his message.

In one of his speeches, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan referred to the video filmed by Abu Shakra, and said that the international media ignored the incident and did not talk about it.
