Israel announces the construction of 1,355 new settlement units in West Bank

The Ministry of Housing and Construction in the occupying country confirmed on Sunday its intention to build 1,355 new settlement housing units in the occupied West Bank.
“Tenders for 1,355 housing units in the West Bank were published under the supervision of Housing Minister Ze’ev Elkin,” the ministry said in a statement.

According to the Hebrew Channel 7, the plan includes building settlement units in the settlements of Ariel, Beit El, Elkana, Emmanuel and Karnei Shomron.

She pointed out that this plan will include the promotion of another 300 settlement units in the future.

She pointed out that this step did not enjoy unanimity within the current Israeli government coalition.

Elkin said that the decision was taken after a long period of stagnation in construction in the West Bank, noting that his government will seek to strengthen and expand settlements in the West Bank, and this is very necessary and important in the vision of the Zionist project. like he said.

He stressed that he will continue to work to promote Jewish settlement in the West Bank.

Knesset members criticized the new settlement plan, and Musa Raz, a member of the Knesset from the left-wing Meretz party, one of the government coalition parties, said that construction in the West Bank settlements harms Israel, describing the current government as right-wing without counting any presence of his Meretz party.

While Sami Abu Shehadeh of the Joint Arab List said, Bennett did not surprise anyone, and the question is what the Meretz party and the United Arab List will do with it.

For its part, the left-wing Peace Now organization said, it has been proven once again that this is not a government of change, but a right-wing government based on settlements.

The left-wing parties in the government, including Meretz and Labor, called for the need to demand an immediate end to the madness of building in the settlements, which harms the chances of reaching a political solution in the future.
