On the International Day of Solidarity with them, calls for an end to violations against Palestinian journalists

 Palestinian press organizations called, today, Sunday, to stop the Israeli violations against journalists, and to work for the release of prisoners from them in light of what they are exposed to.

The Palestinian Media Forum called on all relevant parties concerned with media freedoms and defenders of journalists' rights to translate their solidarity with the Palestinian journalist through a practical program to protect and support him in various forms of support, enabling him to continue his professional role away from all forms of pressure and intimidation.

In a statement on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian Journalist, the Forum pointed out that there are more than 20 journalists in the prisons of the occupation, calling for their release after their arrest to practice their media work guaranteed by international and humanitarian laws and norms.

The International Federation of Journalists, Reporters Without Borders, and local and international human rights organizations demanded that they take practical steps to prosecute and hold the Israeli occupation leaders accountable for their crimes against Palestinian journalists.

The forum reiterated the necessity of arranging the internal house of Palestinian journalists in a way that enhances their ability to face the challenges and dangers facing them, especially in light of the systematic targeting by the Israeli occupation authorities.

For its part, the Journalists Support Committee said that the Israeli occupation continues its violations against Palestinian journalists in all the occupied territories, using all kinds of killing, sniping, brutal arrest, assault and prosecution. The number of violations against journalists since the beginning of this year 2021 has reached (652) violations, which resulted during The Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip last May 2021 resulted in the martyrdom of journalist Youssef Abu Hussein, and the destruction of more than 59 media and journalistic institutions.

The committee called for providing all forms of protection and solidarity with Palestinian journalists, the Knights of Word and Image, who have always been a target of the occupation army, in an attempt to silence their voice and put an end to their work in exposing the crimes of the occupation against the Palestinian people.

She appreciated the role of Palestinian journalists in showing the humanitarian aspects, covering the events in which Palestine is crowded, and documenting the attacks and crimes against Palestinian civilians.

She called on all journalists of the world to strengthen their solidarity and to provide serious and real support, in all its forms, to Palestinian journalists and media outlets in the face of the escalating and organized massive violations of the occupation, calling on the international community to assume its responsibilities towards Palestinian journalists and media institutions, especially since all international conventions and norms guarantee the media freedom of movement, coverage and transmission. The news without any pressure, which is contained in the provisions of Article (19) of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Article (10) of the European Convention on Human Rights, as well as Article 34 of the International Humanitarian Law, which stipulates the respect and protection of civilian journalists working on professional missions in areas of armed conflict As long as they are not taking a direct part in hostilities.

The Committee to Support Journalists, the International Federation of Journalists, the Union of Arab Journalists, all human rights organizations, and the international community demanded on this day the widest condemnation of the crimes of the occupation against the Palestinian media.

The committee also appealed to the Palestinian official level to fulfill its responsibilities towards journalists by providing them with protection and taking serious and effective steps to confront the Zionist violations against them.

And she called for action to release 24 journalists imprisoned in the occupation prisons, some of whom are being re-arrested several times.
