The Telegram application for instant messaging joined the elite of the famous applications, after breaking the barrier of one billion users.
TechCrunch said the app, which was launched in late 2013, crossed one billion users last Friday.
As with the app's main competitor, WhatsApp , India is Telegram's largest market. India, the world's second largest internet market, accounts for nearly 22 percent of downloads.
