Two Palestinians were martyred Tuesday evening and 15 wounded by Israeli occupying forces during a crackdown on a peaceful Palestinian demonstration near the Beit ´ Hanoun-Erez ´ crossing (northern Gaza Strip).
According to the Ministry of Health in Gaza, two martyrs were taken from the scene of the peaceful demonstration, after the Israeli occupation forces fired at them, stating that the first martyr, Mohammed Ahmed Abu Naji, 34, had been identified, while the second martyr was still unknown.
According to health, Palestinian ambulances transported the two martyrs and the injured to the Indonesian hospital in the north of the Gaza Strip, while Israeli soldiers continued firing gas canisters at demonstrators.
Eyewitnesses stated that the Israeli occupation forces "deliberately " attacked the ambulance crews of the "Palestinian Red Crescent" during their coverage of the events currently under way near the Beit Hanoun checkpoint and ambulance the injured.
According to the sources, the occupation attacks on medical crews resulted in the wounding of medics with direct gas canisters in the head, as well as the damage of an ambulance and smashed its glass.
Scores of Palestinian citizens staged an evening demonstration near the Beit Hanoun crossing in a peaceful march titled "Together to protect the rights of refugees and break the siege", in the northern Gaza Strip.
The Israeli occupation forces suppressed demonstrators by firing gas canisters, live bullets and rubber-coated metal bullets, causing scores of casualties, a field monitor told Al-Quds Press.
Palestinian ambulances were reportedly transporting the injuries to the Indonesian hospital in the town of Beit Lahiya (northern Gaza Strip). He pointed out that one of the injuries was a live shot in the lower back.
Medical sources at the Indonesian hospital said that live bullets had reached the hospital from the Beit Hanoun crossing, noting that they were in the lower extremities of the body and one in the back.
Palestinian medical sources described the injuries as "between medium and stable", citing a "serious" injury.
The Palestinian health ministry said last night that Palestinians had been killed by Israeli shelling of a group of youths on the eastern border of the southern Gaza Strip town of Khan Yunis.
Since the beginning of the return March, in late March, 182 Palestinians, including 28 children, were martyred and some 20,000 others injured, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
