Prince Harry and his wife Megan will withdraw from a charity they share with his elder brother Prince William and his wife, Kate, and create a separate institution, the Kensington Palace said in their last move to chart their royal path.
Harry and Megane, the official Duke and Duchess of Sussex, will set up their foundation this year, while the Royal Foundation, founded 10 years ago, will remain the main charity through which Prince William, the second in the Throne and his wife Kate, will stay.
The royal family´s news reporters said this was the last step in separating the general tasks.
Harry and Megan have already moved staff and offices from Kensington Palace to Buckingham Palace this year.
They moved to Windsor Palace, west of London, after living in a house in the vicinity of Kensington Palace where William, Kate Duke and Duke of Cambridge live.
British newspapers have been speculating for months about differences between the two brothers and their wives. The last step prompted some to say that the separation of charitable activity is another example.
"These changes are aimed at elevating the Highnesses´ work and responsibilities as they prepare to take on future roles as well as reconcile their philanthropic activities with their move to a new place," Kensington Palace said in a statement.
The charity, set up by Harry and Megan, will receive operational support from the Royal Foundation for a transitional period, the statement added.
