The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced the signing of 3 agreements with Germany worth 28 million euros to support Palestinian refugees.

According to a statement from UNRWA received by Xinhua News Agency, the two agreements will support the ongoing regional program aimed at improving living conditions for Palestinian refugees in camps, with a total amount of 16 million euros.

The funding for the program will work towards improving infrastructure in refugee camps in Lebanon and Gaza, and will support the building, expansion, and rehabilitation of social, economic, and environmental infrastructure.

The third agreement, valued at 12 million euros, aims to support the second phase of the current digital transformation program in health and education. The innovative project focuses on digitizing key elements of UNRWA's health and educational services in Jordan, Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon.

Tamara al-Rifai, Director of External Relations and Communications at UNRWA, expressed her gratitude for the German support, stating, "I am very grateful to Germany for these new agreements that will help improve the living conditions of Palestinian refugees in the region and will enable UNRWA to make vital investments in infrastructure."

Oliver Owcza, the Representative of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ramallah, affirmed the German government's commitment to "support Palestinian refugees in the region." He pointed out that the new agreements will greatly contribute to improving living conditions in Palestinian refugee camps.

The agreements will allow UNRWA to invest in camp infrastructure and modernize its service delivery system, making UNRWA's services more efficient and accessible for Palestinian refugees.

According to the statement, the German government was the second-largest donor to the agency last year, contributing 190 million euros to the program budget, emergency appeals, and humanitarian recovery appeals for Palestine, as well as various projects
