A United Nations report said on Friday that the Israeli authorities demolished or confiscated 26 buildings in the West Bank during the past two weeks.
A report issued by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in the Palestinian territories stated that the demolitions, which were carried out under the pretext of lack of building permits, led to the displacement of 34 people, including 15 children, and damage to about 40 others.
The report noted that the occupation authorities targeted 22 buildings on March 17th in four localities in Area C in the West Bank, including eight tents confiscated in Khirbet Tana in Nablus.
In the eastern part of Jerusalem, the occupation authorities demolished four buildings, which caused the displacement of 12 people.
The United Nations has previously confirmed that the repeated Israeli demolitions of homes in the West Bank and East Jerusalem lead to severe and severe economic and social consequences for the Palestinians.
The international organization stressed that international humanitarian law requires the occupying power to secure protection for the population of the territory it occupies, guarantee their well-being and respect the human rights due to them.
Usually, the occupation authorities justify the demolition or confiscation of Palestinian buildings as being built without obtaining the necessary permit, while the Palestinians say that this is done in the interest of settlement expansion.
