The United Nations called, today, Saturday, on the occupation forces to stop demolishing and seizing Palestinian homes, and to fulfill its obligations as an occupying power under international humanitarian law.
The Deputy Spokesman for the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Farhan Haq, said during a press conference at the headquarters of the International Organization in New York: “The Israeli forces dismantled and confiscated a residential building in Hamsa al-Baqi’ in the northern Jordan Valley on Thursday, and on Wednesday, 84 Palestinians lost their homes in the town of Ras al-Tin in Ramallah governorate. When the Israeli forces confiscated at least 49 buildings.”
He added that the United Nations has repeatedly called on Israel to stop the demolition and seizure of Palestinian property, and to fulfill its obligations as an occupying power, under international humanitarian law.
It is noteworthy that the Israeli occupation has recently escalated its attacks on citizens´ homes and lands, its settlers´ incursions into the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque, and its attempt to expand settlements in the Palestinian territories to eliminate the Palestinian presence.
