The mayor of Moscow confirms that a march heading towards the Russian capital was shot down

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced that air defenses destroyed a drone over the capital's region on Sunday, in an attack that is the latest in a series of increasing Ukrainian attacks on the Russian capital.

Sobyanin wrote via Telegram, "Today, at around eleven o'clock (08:00 GMT), a drone attempted to penetrate (the airspace) in the direction of Moscow. It was destroyed by the air defense forces as it approached."

The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that the drone was shot down over Podolsky district in the Moscow region, stressing that "there were no casualties or damage."

And the "Ria Novosti" agency reported that temporary restrictions were applied at Vnukovo International Airport in the capital, before they were lifted at a later time.
Over the past days, Ukraine has intensified its targeting of Moscow with drones. A building in a commercial business district in the center of the capital was hit twice in a few days.

At the beginning of the week, the Kremlin confirmed that it had taken all possible measures to "defend civilian infrastructure" in the capital from Ukrainian attacks.
