As part of its continuous support to enhance the efforts of the Palestinian Ministry of Health in combating the outbreak of the Corona epidemic, the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) provided an emergency grant that included medicines and medical consumables for hospitals in the Gaza Strip.
This grant included medicines for the treatment of chronic diseases, for patients most affected by Corona disease, including the elderly and those with chronic diseases, as well as providing medical consumables to protect medical staff from infection, and included sterilizers and personal protection equipment.
For his part, Dr. Fathi Abu Warda, Advisor to the Minister of Health, during his attendance and receipt of the grant, thanked the Japanese government and people, as well as JICA Agency, for the continuous support provided by the Japanese government to the Palestinian people.
He stressed the importance of the timing of this grant, which came in a timely manner, in light of the severe shortage of medicines for chronic diseases, and the importance of these medicines in promoting the health of the elderly and patients with chronic diseases.
Abu Warda extended his special thanks to Josiah Abe, the public example of JICA in Palestine, Yoko Santo, JICA´s representative, and Saher Yunus, Director of JICA Office in Gaza, for this urgent response to the needs of the Ministry of Health to face the shortage of medicines and fight the outbreak of Corona disease in Gaza.
