The "Sony" group announced that it has invested in the popular chatting application "Discord", and is planning to integrate it with "Playstation" devices as of next year.
Head of the games department in the giant technology group Jim Ryan said that "Sony Interactive Entertainment" now has a "minority investment" in the platform, which has more than 140 million monthly users, including many gamers.
The announcement came after reports that Discord ended talks to acquire it from Microsoft, which produces Xbox devices, while other companies have expressed interest in partnering with the service.
Sony and Discord did not mention the value of the deal or other details.
"Our goal is to bring the Discord and PlayStation experiences together on console and mobile devices starting early next year, allowing friends, groups and communities to meet, enjoy and communicate more easily while playing games together," said Ryan, pointing out that other details will be published "in the coming months." .
Discord, headquartered in San Francisco, allows its users to exchange text, audio and video messages for free.
