The Union of Arab Journalists (UJA) announced on Tuesday that the Israeli occupation is increasingly targeting photographers.
This came in a statement on the occasion of World Press Photographer´s Day, which falls on 19 August each year. "Many fellow photojournalists have made great sacrifices to cover the work of journalism, especially in the wars that have prevailed in the Middle East over the past five years." He added: "The frequency of targeting photojournalists by the Israeli occupation has increased, out of 144 violations (during the last five years), 31 cases of gunshot wounds, whether live bullets or rubber bullets, in addition to direct targeting gas and sound bombs towards the bodies of photographers in order to inflict the greatest harm to them." The General Federation of Arab Journalists (GFJU) stressed that it "strongly commends the efforts of fellow photojournalists on their holiday. He praised "their efforts and their bravery in covering important events and performing their lofty message in all countries of the world."
